Query documents are replies to questions asked by SIL's clents. They normally cover one subject and are of general use on that subject, rather than applying to and containing information on a client's specfic organization. There are several forms of Quick Query services, all of which provide thousands of organizations fast and substantiated research information on the real-world experience of others.
The publications that document the queries take two different forms. The most prevalent form is one in which the question that the client has submitted is called out in the definition of the query itself. This form is normally used for internal client distribution and contains the tracking number that uniquely identifies it within the SIL body of work.
The second form is one in which the requesting client wishes to use the findings for external publication. This form does not display some of the internal SIL tracking information, and is more suitable for distribution to business partners, industry boards and social media.
